Representing Taxidermists across the UK

Membership Terms and Conditions of The Guild of Taxidermists (GOT)

Your membership of GOT is for one year for an annual subscription of £50 which is non-refundable; refunds may be given at the discretion of the Committee.  Your membership is due for renewal annually after the date of your acceptance as a member.  We’ll remind you before your next annual fee is due.  GOT is a non-profit making organisation run by volunteers from the membership.

Membership benefits:

  • you will be able to attend the Annual General Meeting and vote on any proposals;
  • we will provide you with full access to all resources available on the members' section of our website;
  • you will receive our annual journal, Taxidermist;
  • you will be included under GOT's insurance scheme;
  • you will be able to attend our conference or seminars which provide opportunities for networking, learning benefits and enter into GOT's accreditation scheme and competitions;
  • you will able to take part and contribute to the running and operation of GOT and the future of taxidermy practice in the UK.

All members will abide by our code of conduct, namely:

  • Respecting the rights and privacy of other people and organisations.  Differing skills, opinions and personality can result in disagreement.  It is important to remember that it can be acceptable to critique or criticise work or ideas, but unacceptable to criticise individuals in a personal capacity or their work in an offensive or disapproving manner.
  • Respecting other people including behaving in an appropriate manner.  Inappropriate behaviour includes the use of foul language or acting in an intimidating, misleading, manipulative or threatening way.  With this, members are bound by GOT's Equality and Diversity policy.  Members are expected to act with integrity, to be honest and abide by the law.

Membership will cease if a member:

(a) resigns by giving notice in writing to the Committee;

(b) fails to pay any annual subscriptions or amounts due from them to GOT;

(c) is removed from membership at the discretion of the Committee.

Reasons for termination of membership include inappropriate conduct by a member at any time that could bring GOT into disrepute or result in criminal prosecution.  GOT does not provide a complete list of circumstances where membership may be revoked as every case is reviewed on an individual basis.

The Terms and Conditions cited here do not override or discount any other terms and conditions described within GOT's policies.

To ensure the integrity of confidence and trust in GOT, members will notify the Committee immediately if they are convicted of a criminal offence.

Membership is not exclusive nor is it a qualification; anyone can become a member subject to approval by the Committee.

On application, please tick the box to confirm that you have read and agreed to our Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions are binding for the duration of your membership.  Members are notified of any changes to the Terms and Conditions usually by email.

You also need to accept our Judging and Competition Rules when becoming a member as well.
